Parents and carers are welcome to join us for an Ambassador Hosted Event, focused on Building Inclusivity in Games the event will be online on the 29th April 10am – 11am (BST).
The event will be lead by Ambassador Emma Cowling, Coach and Anna Ozimek, Researcher.
What is this event’s discussion topic?
How can we make events in games more inclusive for parents and carers?
Events like networking, game jams, and meet-ups are commonly used in the games industry to develop skills and build careers, but their timing and setup can often exclude parents and carers, putting them at a disadvantage.
We’d love to invite anyone with parental or caring responsibilities to come along to this coffee break to feed their ideas, perspectives and experiences of events within the games industry. This event is also informing a project run by the University of York to explore best-practice guidelines in making events in the games industry more inclusive.
So Grab a coffee/tea, a slice of cake or a biscuit and join us for a well-deserved break via Zoom! You are welcome to either share your thoughts and opinions, or simply listen and learn from others throughout the discussion!
Who should attend?
Everyone is welcome, particularly anyone with experience of organising events with caring duties (kids, pets, and any other background distractions are all welcome too)!
How many people will be attending?
Coffee breaks are limited to a maximum of 8 participants (plus hosts), to ensure a high quality, focused, and safe event where everyone gets the opportunity to participate and make connections.
Due to the limited spaces, a wait list is operated, so if you secure a space and are then unable to attend, please cancel your ticket to allow someone on the wait list to attend.
How do I join?
We will be using Zoom and will send out a calendar link to participants once your place is reserved. We ask that participants join the meeting and have their video on, as this event is all about connecting with each other.
How often will these Coffee Breaks be held?
We will be hosting these events regularly, so if this topic doesn’t interest you – stay tuned as we invite special guests who can speak to a diverse range of interests! We look forward to sharing a coffee (or tea) with you online
