Moving on Up?

Women in Games is working hard to actively address toxicity in gaming through a variety of channels.

Over this coming weekend, we are hosting the Women in Games VALORANT Community Cup, hosted by MonkeyBubble and sponsored by Google. And a number of the winners will be speaking on a panel during our conference.

This year’s Women in Games Conference has a panel dedicated to considering how women players get a fair deal, fair treatment and a fair share of the prizes. The panel Moving on Up? is being facilitated by Verta Maloney, a founding member of the *GameHERs and also a member of the editorial team behind  the Collegiate Esports DEI Handbook, and she will be talking to  a brilliant line-up of speakers all who are contributing to change:

  • Cary Lambert (Brand Manager esports and Pro, Logitech)
  • Servane Fischer (Senior esports legal counsel, Ubisoft, & member of Women in Games France)
  • Sophia George (Head of Marketing, Guild Esports)
  • Soraya Sobh (Head of Creators at Fnatic)

A Women in Games survey will be carried out across the two weeks of our Festival to gather key insights from our Festival participants and delegates to our Conference. This will provide us with much needed data to help shape our activities going forward into 2022.

Women in Games recently contributed insights for a BBC report on Esports and Women in Games Ambassador Emma Brown, Co-Founder of DOTA Valkyries, talks to the BBC about a lack of women players in esports. You can see the full report and interview here:
