Huge congratulations to Bianca Antunes, one of our newest Women in Games Ambassadors, who has just organised the Manas Game Jam with local colleagues.

Bianca is part of Manas Game Dev, an organisation that seeks to strengthen the games industry for women in Northern Brazil, especially for indigenous communities. There are seven individuals in the organisation, which hosts events such as talks, meet-ups, and mentoring sessions. And last month, it hosted the first Manas Game Jam.

Bianca explained: “This initiative is dedicated to promoting the participation and development of games by women and non-binary people in the North region of Brazil. Aiming to provide an inclusive and collaborative space, the event seeks to strengthen the community of game developers in the region.

“The theme was “Say you’re from the North without saying you’re from the North’, featuring regional slang, food, and references.

The event was held online on the Manas Game Dev Community Discord. The results can be seen on Manas’ page and its Instagram feed @manasgamedev!”

Women in Games Director of Ambassadors and Co-Director Gemma Johnson-Brown offered: “This is a great achievement by Bianca and her colleagues and we’re delighted, that as a new Ambassador, she has shared news of her event with our community.

“We urge more of our Ambassadors to share their stories to inspire others.”
