ROOM 8 REVEALS HEADCOUNT GROWTH OF 80% IN 2022 DESPITE FIERCE CHALLENGES
Women in Games Corporate Ambassador Room 8 Group is celebrating a significant increase in its headcount – an amazing achievement given the dreadful situation playing out in one of its key territories of Ukraine.
At the beginning of 2022, Room 8 Group had numerous teams located in Ukraine, which made up more than 50% of the company’s total headcount. The war, evacuation of people from the worst affected areas in the country, creating areas for work in new locations, and opening new offices at a significantly accelerated pace were the most complicated challenges for the company last year.
Yet, despite these challenges, Room 8 Group has almost doubled its headcount, it has opened offices in new locations, closed M&A deals and launched new brands.
During 2022, Room 8 Group expanded its footprint to Poland, Romania, and Spain, opening offices in these countries. These new locations also allowed Room 8 to increase the number of specialists it employs from 900 in 2021 to almost 1,700 in late 2022. The company is also hiring in other countries in Europe, North America, and South America.
Anna Kozlova, CEO, of Room 8 Group, said: “Like many other companies with a presence in Ukraine, we had to find new effective solutions. We didn’t give up on our plans, but we had to postpone some of them. We never suspended our work and managed to reorganise very quickly – the results exceeded our expectations. However, we lost a few months in launching new services and implementing strategic transformation projects.
“We are proud of our teams for showing enormous dedication and courage in this challenging and dynamic year. Together, we made this year gainful for us in terms of globalisation, launched numerous charity initiatives in Ukraine, and accumulated valuable experience handling crisis situations. We are also happy to enter 2023 with so many new talents onboard, and two new studios – PUGA and Massive Black – these were the successful M&A deals accomplished by Room 8 Group in 2022.”
