This week’s Women in Games Careers, Development & Networking Expo will give attendees the opportunity to hear insightful and inspiring ‘My Story’ talks from some of the brilliant women in our community.

Two of these sessions will feature Pebbles Klein, Community Manager at BetterPlay Studios, and Margarita Toporkova, Global Engagement and Wellbeing Specialist at Keywords Studios.

My Story: Pebbles Klein – Starting out in Games
Join us for an intimate session with Pebbles Klein, a dynamic Community Manager in the gaming industry and a proud Women In Games Ambassador. In ‘Starting Out in Games’, Pebbles will share her journey into the heart of gaming, highlighting the challenges, triumphs, and insights gained from her experiences.

With a rich background spanning eight years in social media management and marketing, coupled with 3 years of community management, Pebbles has carved a niche for herself in connecting people through the universal love of games, memes, and genuine community interactions. Her work is not just about fostering online spaces but creating meaningful connections that resonate with the core values of inclusivity and engagement within the gaming world.

In this session, Pebbles will delve into her initial steps in the gaming industry, the obstacles she faced, and how she navigated her path to becoming a Community Manager and an influential voice for women in games. Attendees will gain valuable insights into the importance of building authentic communities, the power of engagement, and the role of passion in driving success in the gaming industry.

My Story: Margarita Toporkova – Navigating Change and Embracing Wellbeing
Join us for an inspiring session with Margarita Toporkova, a Global Employee Engagement and Wellbeing Specialist at Keywords Studios, as she shares her journey of ‘Navigating Change and Embracing Wellbeing’. Margarita’s story is one of resilience, adaptability, and personal growth, stemming from her rich background and experiences across different cultures and professional spheres.

Margarita’s journey from Kazakhstan to Russia and finally Canada epitomises the essence of navigating change. With a diverse background in teaching, linguistics, and communication, she has mastered the art of adapting to new environments and leveraging her experiences to foster growth. At Keywords Studios, Margarita is at the forefront of promoting employee wellbeing and positive working practices on a global scale. Her role involves spearheading initiatives that not only enhance the work environment but also advocate for mental health, work-life balance, and overall employee satisfaction. As a Women in Games Ambassador, Margarita is deeply committed to diversity and inclusion within the gaming industry, striving to create a space that celebrates and supports every individual.

In this session, Margarita will delve into her personal narrative, revealing how she has managed to turn the challenges of constant change into opportunities for learning and development. Attendees will gain insights into the strategies and mindsets that have enabled her to thrive in diverse settings and how these experiences have shaped her approach to fostering wellbeing in the workplace. These sessions form part of the speaker programme taking place during the Careers, Development & Networking Expo – which takes place virtually on Thursday March 7th from 7am to 10pm GMT to take in all international time zones.

The event is free to attend, and also features a virtual expo area where you’ll be able to meet with studios and other companies who are hiring. These companies will also be hosting their own content, including talks, presentations and CV/portfolio reviews throughout the day.
