VANCOUVER FILM SCHOOL OFFERS WOMEN IN GAME DESIGN SCHOLARSHIPS

World-renowned Vancouver Film School – recognised for alumni such as filmmaker Kevin Smith and White Lotus’ Adam DiMarco – is partner with local games studios to offer a Women in Game Design Scholarship to four aspiring game designers (globally) in 2023 for its Game Design and Programming for Games.
The scholarship winners will have mentorship and internship opportunities with top game studios including East Side Games, Timbre Games, Relic Entertainment, The Coalition, Blackbird Interactive, and A Thinking Ape. The scholarship fund, valued at over $150,000, is available exclusively to women and non-binary individuals looking to enter the game industry.
VFS’s 12-month Game Design program focuses on three core areas of speciality: Coding, Game Art, and Level Design. Students tackle individual and team-based projects involving collaboration with other VFS programmes including 3D Animation, Programming, Sound Design, Writing, and VR/AR.
In 2022, VFS alumni were credited on the best-selling video games worldwide, including Elden Ring, FIFA 23, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, in a global industry worth $184 billion in 2022 and estimated to reach more than US$211 billion by 2025.
