AN UPDATE FROM MARIE-CLAIRE ISAAMAN, CEO, WOMEN IN GAMES

“February is the border between Winter and Spring” – Terri Guillemets
A lovely quote – and something for us all to consider as we look ahead to Spring and beyond, following the traditional frantic, back-to-work busyness of January.
And it has been a very busy start to the year for the whole Women in Games team, as we plan for our calendar of events throughout 2022 and begin important work on new projects and initiatives.
As you’ll see elsewhere on this newsletter, we have some exciting announcements already, and many more to come. I’d like to give you some highlights…
New Team Members
We’re delighted to welcome Mafalda Duarte, Lauren Kaye and Fida Zourob to the Women in Games organisation. We hope that you will all get to meet and connect with them over the coming weeks.
Careers & Networking Expo
If you haven’t already made a note of the date, this will take place on Thursday March 10th. A full day (covering all time zones) of speaker sessions, a virtual expo and unlimited network is on offer, and I can reveal that the theme of the event will be ‘The Confidence Question’. It’s free to attend this virtual event – please register your place here.
Women in Games Ambassador Programme – Powered by Keywords
Our Ambassador Programme is really going from strength to strength. We ended the year with over 600 individual Ambassadors from over 50 different countries throughout the world. More are currently being processed and we look forward to announcing our latest recruits very shortly.
In addition, our Corporate Ambassador programme is growing fast – we now have 34 companies pledged to support Women in Games, and with additional enquiries coming in on a daily basis.
And it’s a very similar story for our Education Ambassador programme. It was launched just a year ago, but is moving forward at pace.
Women in Games Guide: Building a Fair Playing Field
This is an incredibly important piece of work for Women in Games and we hope it will prove to be a useful resource for studios throughout Europe and beyond. I’d like to thank Sharon Tolaini-Sage for the huge amount of work she has put into the Guide with me, and to ISFE and InGAME for their support. Also, we offer gratitude to the companies and individuals who have provided us insight into their own stories of how to build a fair playing field.
We look forward to announcing more information about The Guide – including its launch – next month.
International Women’s Day – Let’s All #BeatTheBias
As you’ll see from the article below, the theme of International Women’s Day this year is #BeatTheBias. And we would love to see as many images of our community striking the #BeatTheBias pose. Let us all show solidarity with women around the world on March 8th.
Finally, I’d like to thank you all once again for your on-going support of Women in Games. We couldn’t do it without your help and enthusiasm for our cause.
