CELEBRATING WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH WITH WIG CATARINA REES

This Women’s History Month, we are proud to celebrate the voices, achievements and impact of our global Women in Games Ambassador community – a network that now spans more than 2,800 Ambassadors across 102 countries.
Together, they represent an extraordinary breadth of talent and experience across every corner of the games industry, united by a shared commitment to advancing equity and opportunity.
Throughout March, this series shines a light on the individuals behind that collective impact. By amplifying their stories, we aim to celebrate progress, inspire future leaders, and reinforce the importance of representation at every level of our industry.
The Women in Games Individual Ambassador Programme – powered by Keywords Studios – continues to grow as a truly global movement for change.
Here we speak with Catarina Rees, Associate Producer for Aonic in London…
Tell us about yourself
I’m currently working as an Associate Producer for Aonic UK, alongside the amazing team at Megabit Publishing!
Favourite game of all time?
Hades (and by extension, Hades 2) – the first games I ever felt really good at!
What inspired you to become a Women in Games Ambassador
When I joined my company, there were only two other women present, and both were Ambassadors – absolute powerhouses who inspired me to join.
What is one thing you’ve done – or hope to do soon – to support other women in the industry?
I want to focus on educational level work, specifically in university. The odds are stacked against students, and I’d like help out while I still feel closer to my own uni experience.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received, or a tip you’d like to give someone starting their journey in games?
Every bit of experience matters, and is relevant! Don’t wait around for the perfect opportunity – take what you can and make it work for you.
If you could have any superpower to help you in your daily work, what would it be?
A photographic memory would be useful, but I wouldn’t say no to teleportation! I’d love to skip the commute!
Our Ambassadors are at the heart of a growing global community dedicated to making the games industry more equitable, representative and inclusive.
The Women in Games Ambassador Programme – powered by Keywords Studios – connects leaders, advocates and allies across 102 countries. If you’re ready to use your voice, experience and influence to make a difference, we would love to welcome you.
