GAMEHERS APP RAMPS UP USERS, AS WOMEN FLOCK TO THE SAFE SPACE

In case you missed the news, the brilliant *gameHERS organisation launched a dedicated app late last year.

The app allows users to connect similar to a social networking platform. Once downloaded, users are first prompted to agree to the community ethos: ‘Be respectful. Be a badass, not an ass. Be you, be kind.’

Once in the app, users interact through online groups geared toward both gaming and general interest topics. The ‘Play Now’ section allows gamers to post a game they want to play and request players to join them to play in real-time. The ‘Events’ section posts virtual events hosted by the *gameHERs on a wide range of topics by exceptional women in gaming and experts in the gaming industry.

Since launching in December, app users have increased from a few hundred to over 3000 and *gameHERS members have made over 5,000 posts, with 12,000 emoji reactions. Weekly events are posted in the app, from how to seminars to general virtual and in-person meetups and they have been garnering large numbers of both attendance, according to the team. The next event takes place on February 8th on How to Start a Discord Server.

Creating safe and dynamic spaces for women in the gaming community to connect and thrive has been the *gameHERS mission since the four co-founders launched the company, just two years ago.

You can download the *gameHERS app for Android via the Google Play Store, or for iOS via the App Store.
