PURDUE UNIVERSITY BECOMES FIRST US WOMEN IN GAMES EDUCATION AMBASSADOR

We are delighted to welcome Purdue University to our growing Education Ambassador Programme.

Located in West Lafayette, Indiana, Purdue University is a world-renowned, public research university that advances discoveries in science, technology, engineering and maths. It has been ranked in each of the last four years as one of the 10 Most Innovative universities in the United States by US News & World Report.

It is now showing its commitment to gender diversity, equality and inclusion by signing up to the Women in Games Education Ambassador Programme.

Dr David M Whittinghill, Purdue University’s Associate Professor of Computer Graphics Technology and Associate Professor of Computer and IT Technology, said: “Through myriad contributions to science, technology, and the arts, women have made possible the gaming industry we all enjoy today.

“To nurture greater representation, advocacy, achievement, and opportunities for women game developers at Purdue, the Computer Graphics Technology department is proud to be Women in Games’ first US Educational Ambassador. Through our partnership, we are looking forward to building the future generations of women game developers who will lead our industry and institutions to even higher levels of success.”

Women in Games CEO Marie-Claire Isaaman added: “Purdue University has demonstrated a strong desire for encouraging under-represented groups into education, and has shown its commitment to making it affordable to all by freezing tuition fees at 2012-2013 levels. Now it has made a public pledge to nurture and support women in games and esports. We are delighted to have them join our Education Ambassador Programme and look forward to working with them.”
