VIRTUOS SHANGHAI SEEKS SENIOR LEVEL DESIGNER
Our Corporate Ambassador Virtuos is looking to fill the role of Senior Level Designer
Here’s an overview:
This is an important hands-on design role for someone who can help bring game missions and level experiences from concept through to final implementation. You will work closely with the game design team, lead level designer, programmers, artists, and QA to ensure that levels are well-planned, balanced, stable, and aligned with the overall gameplay vision.
You will be responsible for contributing to the definition and feasibility of missions, supporting balance and progression across the game, and taking full ownership of several levels from 3D prototype through scripting, tuning, and final polish. This means being deeply involved in how levels are designed, built, tested, iterated, and ultimately delivered to players.
This role requires someone with strong practical level design experience, a solid understanding of 3D tools, and very good knowledge of scripting languages. You should be comfortable working closely with cross-functional teams and able to collaborate effectively with both technical and creative stakeholders throughout the development process.
We are looking for a designer who is curious about different level editors, actively follows the latest console, PC, and mobile games, and has a genuine passion for games across multiple platforms. A broad interest in other entertainment mediums, such as books and movies, will also be valuable, especially when translating memorable experiences into engaging gameplay moments.
You’ll be joining an international development environment, so the ability to integrate quickly into a team and communicate in workable English is important. Experience working overseas, or a strong interest in doing so, would be an advantage.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of level design experience and will have contributed as a level designer to at least one released title on PC, console, or mobile. You should be used to working closely with programmers and artists and be able to take responsibility for delivering high-quality level content from early prototype to final implementation.
It’s a full-time onsite role, working from Shanghai.
